Celebrating Lizzie

Lizzie had a wonderful birthday! On Friday we went to Chick-fil-a and then to Coldstone for ice cream and then yesterday we had a family party. Grandy and Nanna got back yesterday so we were waiting on them to have her party. She had lots of fun and got lots of fun gifts! The slideshow is from Fri and yesterday.

16!!!

Our oldest nephew is 16 today! Happy Birthday Zach! We tell him all the time how we thought their was nothing like him since he was the first. We all spoiled him like crazy! Now that little boy is 16 years old!

We are so proud of the young man you have become (don't let us down now that you can drive!). Get prepared for when we come home because you know the Hall girls will be wanting to go everywhere with you. You are always so wonderful and patient with them! WE LOVE YOU! BE CAREFUL!

I found this picture last week and I couldn't resist posting it today. That little boy in the driver's seat will be driving for real! Oh, and Zach notice who is in the passenger's seat! Make sure you keep it that way!

HAPPY 2ND BIRTHDAY TO LIZZIE!!!

Princess Lizzie,

You are 2 years old today! Mama will cry at least once today. It is so neat to watch you learn new things as you grow but I also want you to stay little. I am so glad to be your mommy! You bring much joy and laughter to our family. There are so many things I want to tell you about how wonderful you are and how much you mean to me but one letter simply can’t hold all that so here are the highlights. You became a big sister long before any of us had planned and you are so sweet to Millie. You love her so much and are sure to always take care of your Mill. By the way, you call every baby Mill Mill. You love your big sisters too. You and Sallie fight a lot but I know you still love her. You admire everything that both she and Elleigh do. Sisters are very special and mama is so happy that you get to share your life with 3 sisters! You have beautiful blonde curls and whenever someone sees you they always say, “look at those curls.” You also have big blue eyes and at 2 you already know how to use them to get what you want. You are so prissy! You really are a princess! Daddy says you are 100% girl. You melt your daddy’s heart! You do not like to get dirty or get anything on your clothes. You want everything to be in its right place. Lately you insist on dressing yourself and you work very hard until you have your clothes perfect. You can say daddy but you choose to call him mama. We correct you but you have a mind of your own! When you are not happy with me you say “mam-uhhh”. When we tell you to do something you often do not obey us until we say ”NOW” in a stern voice and then you know we mean business. Your favorite words are NO and MINE. I think you say no a lot because mommy says it so many times a day and mine because with 3 sisters you have to fight for lots of things and because you are 2. You are very dramatic! You gasp and cover your mouth with both hands when you are surprised. I hope to potty train you soon. I have tried 2 times already and you are not very interested. You want your diaper off as soon as you tee tee in it and you love wearing panties but you don’t love going to the potty. Please love going to the potty soon! Last but certainly not least you always make sure we pray at each meal. As soon as you get to the table you start stretching out your arms to hold the hands of whoever is beside you. This makes mama and daddy so proud. Lately you have begun speaking your own prayer while whoever is praying, in your own language I might add. You are a precious gift God created and gave to us and our hope is that you will love and serve Him with all your heart. Happy 2nd Birthday!!!

P.S. I finished writing this letter to you last weekend and this week I am pretty sure that the terrible 2’s have hit us. Oh baby girl, have I mentioned you have a mind of your own? It’s going to be a “fun” year!!!

I LOVE YOU!
Mama

On the wonderful day you were born!

At 1!

What we've been up to

The summer is really flying by! Our AL friends and family will be starting back to school in just a few weeks. TX schools do not start until the end of August. We will start back after Labor Day. Aaron will start back to classes on August 21st. I have not mentioned it here but he ended up dropping Turbo Hebrew. It was just too much for him. We were extremely upset to begin with because we had so hoped to get that behind us and of course it means we will be here for longer. Not that being here is a terrible thing but we are all very ready for him to be out of school. He has been in school so much of our married life but we will make it through one day. We are at peace with it now and know that it is all part of God's plan. I have to remind myself of God's perfect timing. I have to say we spent about a week restling with Him and ourselves over the whys. It all makes us stronger, right? Sallie finally lost her first tooth! We were very concerned because she had not lost any yet but in true Sallie fashion she pulled it herself and went on about her business. I guess when you have had 17 surgeries pulling a tooth is a piece of cake! Millie was sick last week and I kept thinking it was just her teeth but I finally decided to take her to Dr to make sure and he said she was cutting molars, had a summer cold, and an ear infection. This was her first ear infection. Pretty good considering she is almost 1. We made it almost a year without an antibiotic!!! Her ear seems better but her teeth are still really bothering her. Lizzie is saying more words every day and is as prissy as ever. Elleigh is having a good summer just hanging out. This summer I have had more time to step back and look at her and think how did she grow up so fast! Grandy and Nanna have been here for 2 weeks and it is going by so fast. They are traveling this week so back to reality for all of us! Aaron, Sallie, and Elleigh took them to the airport this morning. Sallie cried. Bless her heart. She will be excited to see them when they get back. They will be back in one week! They had to go to Virginia for an IMB conference. I am sure they could use some rest!!!
No post would be complete without pictures so here are some from our last week at the Botanic Gardens and the zoo. Sallie wanted her picture made with Grandy and Nanna and I love it!

Millie loves hanging out in the stroller and of course sucking her thumb!

Elleigh and I enjoyed watching the arangatanges being quite friendly with each other!

Hope you are having a great summer!!!

SPOILED!

I think that is the one word that best describes us right now! I may even be the most spoiled! I am trying to figure out what I am going to do when Nanna and Grandy are gone. Elleigh and Sallie have much moved in with them. Lizzie and Millie have both taken to them well but they do not want to spend the night with them yet. I hear people say "oh no the in-laws are coming" but not me, I am going to be saying "oh no the in-laws are leaving!" They are great with the girls and Nanna is cooking and the list goes on. They will be traveling next week so we will be back to taking care of ourselves. I am sure they will need the break! Thanks Nanna and Grandy for being so good to us!

The girls think they need to go to the pool everyday! No matter how far away they are or how long they are gone Sallie is still crazy about her Grandy! She has been that way since she was a baby and it has never changed. Lizzie loves her Nanna. She has become attached to her very quickly!

Millie Time

One day last week Nanna and Grandy kept the 3 older girls and I was able to have some Millie time. It was great! She loved my undivided attention and I loved giving it to her. I have never been able to spend much time alone with her. Going from 4 to 1 is a strange feeling! Grandy and Nanna brought her this precious outfit from Argentina and so after I bathed her that day I thought this would be the perfect time to get some pictures of her in that outfit because there are no other distractions for me or her. I love this outfit and as you can see it is too cute on her. I like to get things like this for them so that they can keep them forever and pass them down as something their grandparents bought them as missionaries. You know I can never choose just a few shots to share so here are lots!

THEY'RE HERE AT LAST!!!

Grandy and Nanna are here!!! They arrived in TX Monday morning around 1. It is so good to have them here. It has been over a year since we have seen them and it was their first time to meet Millie. I just realized that I have not taken any pictures of them with Millie and Lizzie yet. Aaron, Elleigh, and Sallie met them at their house on campus (yes at 1 am!) and I made sure A had the camera to take pictures when they arrived but I haven't taken any since. I will get busy on that! They took all the girls with them to Wal-Mart yesterday and I was home alone for a couple of hours-WOW! I didn't know what to do with myself! Sallie and Elleigh have both spent both nights with them. Last night Lizzie wanted to go with them when they left our house so we let her and then after she left it hit me that she had only spent 1 night away from me (the night Millie was born) and she slept in her bed that night. They said she went to sleep fine but she woke up around 10 crying and wanting Millie. Is that not too sweet? A went and got her and brought her home and when she got back here she came in the door and immediately said Mill. We took her and showed her Mill and she was fine. Precious!!!

The arrival! The look on Sallie's face brings tears to my eyes. She loves her Nanna and Grandy!

So does Elleigh!
Sallie and Elleigh getting all their prizes from Nanna and Grandy (probably close to 2 am by this time!) It's never to late for goodies-right!

4th of July!

We had a great 4th of July! It and Christmas are Elleigh's favorite holidays and she really misses spending it with family but I think she had a good day too. We just hung out together. It is rare that we get to spend a day just relaxing and playing. There is always something to do but we didn't do any chores and we just enjoyed each other.

Millie hanging out in her swing on the deck

Sallie playing outside in her bikini (daddy will end the bikini wearing at some point so she is wearing it while she can!) A grilling! He loves to grill and we love for him to!
Yummy Kabobs!
Millie's first 4th of July and she decided to celebrate by laying back in her stroller and sucking her thumb!
That afternoon we headed down to Granbury for their celebration. It was a lot of fun and HOT! As you can see, Millie and Lizzie did not want to sit on this bench and let me take their picture!
We found a good spot to watch the fireworks about 2 hours before they actually began so Lizzie is entertaining us! The girls were so good, especially considering it was 10 before the fireworks started and they lasted for 30 minutes.
Lizzie was full of love!

Some people near us had more ice cream cones than their group could eat and it was melting fast so they gave some to the girls. Well, you can imagine what a mess that was. Here we are going back and forth between Lizzie and Millie sharing a cone. We were all so sticky! I just let them get it all over them (and me). I am amazed at how much I have mellowed. There was a day that would have driven me crazy!
"I like this stuff!"
I can't seem to get good fireworks pics but here is some of what we got. They were really good. Oh, after we sat there for 2 hours there was a tree blocking our view. We could see them but not as well as we would have liked after waiting on them for 2 hours! We can now say we have seen the famous Granbury fireworks!

It took us forever to get out of Granbury and then to drive home so it was nearly midnight when we got home. It was a good day!

Happiness is...

Sharing a beater coated with pie filling with your sister!

MINE!

Lizzie's favorite word right now is MINE and she thinks everything is MINE. Sallie has been without her hearing aids because she tore the back off one side. So, we were having them repaired. The first day she had them back Lizzie had a fit wanting them herself. She was screaming mine and I was trying to explain it to her, etc. It hit me that I should video her doing this because it would be something they would both really appreciate one day. By the time I got it she had stopped saying mine and was just mad! So, here she is pitching a fit because she doesn't have hearing aids! Oh, and we are still hearing MINE days later!
