Interesting Case

On Friday Lizzie woke up and was limping on her foot. So we look at it and there is something strange looking on the bottom of her foot and by lunch there was a stripe all across the bottom and going up the sides. It was swollen and really red and she would only walk on her toes. We were thinking it was some kind of bite but it was really strange. I called the nurse at our pediatrician's office and she said bring her in for them to look at it. It turns out it is a bacterial infection in the skin. He put her on an antibiotic which will treat staph or strep which is usually the type of bacteria this is. We are really hoping that the antibiotic will take care of it and that this will not be something that is resistant. We are to watch it closely and make sure it doesn't move up her leg or anything like that. It looks about the same today. I am keeping motrin in her and she is good as long as I do that but when it wears off she starts complaining with it again. In the words of Dr. Jeff (our pediatrician), "it's always an interesting case with you guys!" Really?!?! Please pray it doesn't get more interesting!

This picture really doesn't show it well but it is as good as we could get.

Justus was about her age when he got scarletina (scarlet fever). It started on his feet and went all the way up to his chest before it was over. It is always asscociated with strep as well. Hope she feels better and we will pray it won't be any serious!

Love y'all!

Give that little darling some love for us. And make sure you have plenty of motrin on hand before you all head to bed. Use to seem like I would run out, just at bedtime. And I hate making a wal-mart run at 2 AM!! Take Care, Friends!
